It’s a classic question I ask every UX/UI designer who I interview. What’s wrong in this picture?

Tip: The same problem exists here in our own product:

Conclusion: Who cares.

Truth vs. Hollywood

Posted in Uncategorized by Homam Hosseini on November 15, 2009

I was reading this interesting column in NY Times, Mistakes in Typography by Alice Rawsthorn. Honestly it’s the first time I ever looked at typography from this point of view. I can feel her view about typographical errors, usually I feel similar when I see a scientifically incorrect assertion in a movie for example.

Sometimes I think movies are not textbooks, they just should not be too wrong. But changing the truth to make it more cinematic has been OK with me. If we want Hollywood appreciate scientific values, we have to realize its rules too.

For now, I’m just enjoying reading this article.

XM Radio Sucks!

Posted in Uncategorized by Homam Hosseini on February 19, 2009

I used to listen XM in office, but recently the more I listen to my old favorite channels, the more I get bored. It seems they just have a very limited set of musics and play ’em just randomly in they various channels.

I loved XM 20on20 but this new good morning program really really sucks.

UAE Web Awards

Posted in Uncategorized by Homam Hosseini on November 30, 2008

Last week I was talking about having a dinner in Jumeriah Beach Hotel while I was walking in the lobby. I should have being talking about something more valuable if I’d known it would be formed a week later.

Dig and Win won two awards in UAE Web Awards ceremony held there. That was a damn boring event, and I still hardly get what all the buzz were for. It was a web design companies show to their customers. I believe that the current live version of Dig and Win does not worth a prize, I really don’t like the graphics, but I was sure from the date of submission that we will win in one or two categories, and we won two. Actually at the end of the day UAE is a developing country and the most successful web businesses here are similar to small web businesses in rural USA. We introduced something very new that just the act of talking about it is prize-worthy.

I can’t stop making fun of Microsoft representative there, who waist his speech by talking about IE8. I myself could have market Microsoft design and development tools to the mostly professional web designers much better than him.
